Dental Preventative The Natural Way

Have you ever brushed your teeth with a protein bar? No, me neither! Our dogs have a much similar issue with Kibble, and other “dental type treats”.

As a training professional, dental hygiene is very important on a health and behavior stand point. Bad teeth and gums can create painful abscesses, broken and deteriorating teeth, bad breath, and a lot of unnecessary pain. Unfortunately dental disease in dogs is all too common and almost the norm. When a dog is in pain, they can develop unexpected behavioral and health problems, including; aggression, anxiety, unsocial behavior, lethargy, gum disease, infections, and many more issues may arise.

The key is to take preventative action! RAW Meaty Bones are a wonderful start. Did you know that one RAW Meaty Bone a week, is equivalent to Us brushing our teeth three times a day, for a week. Imagine how quickly your dog can get back to those nice pearly whites. Bones should NOT be cooked, cooked bones splinter and are not safe to feed, yes, this includes rawhides and the cooked bones you can buy at the average grocery store. These bones need to be RAW. I like to keep them frozen until time to feed

How it works:

Raw bones are still soft and pliable, even the weight bearing bones such as these beef marrow bones This means that when a dog chews on them, it creates pockets and slices that curve around the teeth, cleaning all of that gunk off! The meat and marrow have beneficial nutrients and the bone itself is extra calcium!

Now, Raw Meaty Bones are just one step you can take, things like chicken or turkey necks are also great for those back molars. I usually feed either outside or in their crates, easy to no clean up, plus it keeps your dog psychologically engaged, by the time they are done with their bone, they are exhausted and ready for a nap.
